Daffodil Hill
Daffodil Hill is made up of husband-and-wife team Arie and Sam and together they run a small-scale market garden based in Bangor Teifi that grow vegetables, herbs and salads for the local community.
Sam & Arie are passionate about the benefits of food produced with no sprays and chemicals (even those that are organically certified) and working in harmony with nature.
To this end they only use natural amendments and feeds such as comfrey, nettle, seaweed and of course homemade compost! They love the no-dig approach and can see their soil health improving year on year. They encourage all insects and animals to the farm as they strongly believe that everything, no matter how small, plays a crucial role in the ecosystem and food chain as a whole.
You can be assured that if you buy Daffodil Hill produce it will be freshly harvested by hand – no tomatoes that have sat in a chiller room for 2 weeks here! Sam and Arie also grow unusual and heritage varieties not available in the shops and supermarkets as they select for nutrition and flavour rather than shelf life and uniformity.
Daffodil Hill produce is available seasonally from May through until October and the hope is to extend this as the business grows. A varied range of vegetables are grown in the market garden including salad leaves, tomatoes, cucumbers, beetroot, squashes, courgettes, spring onions, leeks, kale, cabbages, chard, shallots, beans, potatoes, garlic and more. Every year they trial new varieties and are keen to hear what customers love or would like to see more of. You can find Daffodil Hill produce in The Carrot Cruncher and Riverside Health in Newcastle Emlyn and Y Pantri Bach in Drefach Velindre.
